Massive fires across the country forced 3,500 people out of their homes and devastated an entire community in central Israel.

Over 1,300 firefighters and, 300 volunteers participated in Operation “Hot Fire” to combat the wildfires that raged in various locations throughout Israel on Thursday and Friday as temperatures reached up 45 degrees celsius in some areas, coupled with strong winds.

Some 32,000 acres and 50 homes in the community of Mevo Modi’im and Kibbutz Harel in the center of the country were consumed in the fires.

There were no serious injuries although firefighters and civilians were treated for smoke inhalation.
