Media expert says journalists fear losing access to Arab dictatorships if they criticize them.

HonestReporting is a media watchdog group that identifies anti-Israel bias in Middle East reporting and demands corrections from media outlets guilty of such bias.

Very often, the bias starts with the journalists on the ground in Israel and the neighboring Arab nations.

One reason for this, according to Simon Plosker, Managing Editor of HonestReporting, is Israel’s complete grant of freedom to both the international and domestic press.

Knowing that Israel allows journalists to criticize it as much as they want without losing access to government officials creates an ironic situation in which the more repressive the Arab regimes are, the more positive coverage they receive.

Watch as Plosker describes this dynamic and other obstacles facing Israel in the media.
