It’s not Israel, but the world that needs to have their embassies in Jerusalem, lawmaker Yehuda Glick explains.

Responding to President Donald Trump’s decision to postpone moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, reneging on his earlier commitment, Member of Knesset Yehuda Glick said that it’s the world that needs that connection to Jerusalem, not Israel.

Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the People of Israel and the State of Israel regardless of where foreign embassies are situated, Glick asserted. The world, however, needs that connection to Jerusalem because it wants to be relevant and connected to reality.

In line with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement that keeping the embassy in Tel Aviv drives peace further away, Glick, a member of the prime minister’s Likud party, said that moving it to Jerusalem would be a step in the direction of peace and stability. Like Netanyahu, Glick feels certain that Trump will make the move as soon as he feels the time is right – and he hopes it will be soon.
