Warsaw Ghetto then and now (Teraz’43/Facebook)

Seventy-five years ago, a group of Jews took up arms in Warsaw and engaged in a month long battle against the most powerful army in the world. Their historic resistance held the Nazi forces at bay for nearly a month.

In their new book, Teraz ’43 Losy, Marcin Dziedic and Magdalena Kicinska bring the Warsaw Uprising to life by juxtaposing historical photographs of the event with modern color photographs of those same locations.

This format puts the tragic events of 1943 into a whole new light.

This video transports the viewer to a time when a desperate people faced desperate odds, and did not go quietly into the night.
