The Birkat Kohanim (Priestly Blessing) ceremony at the Western Wall was attended by tens of thousands of Jews who gathered on Sukkot from all over the world. Jerusalem was spiritually electrified!
The blessing comes from Numbers 6:23-27, where Aaron and his sons are commanded to bestow the following blessing on the Jewish people: “May the LORD bless you and guard you, May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you, May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace.”
In light of the UNSECO resolution denying Jewish ties to the Temple Mount and Western Wall, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi of the Western Wall and the holy sites of Jerusalem, stated: “In all of world history I don’t know of an ‘occupying power’ whose land is full of the relics of its ancestors. The holiness of the Temple Mount and the Western Wall for the Jewish people goes back many generations.”
“The millions of worshipers who come to pray at the Western Wall in front of the Temple Mount are the Jewish answer to UNESCO,” he added.
