The World Chess Federation has barred Saudi Arabia from hosting the next world championship because it won’t let Israelis enter the country to participate.

Despite the covertly warming of diplomatic relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom continues to bar Israelis from entering the country.

Earlier this month, two Israeli nationals petitioned the international chess governing body, fighting the discrimination they faced when prevented from taking part in a chess tournament in Saudi Arabia last year because of their nationality.

Riyadh has now been stripped of the competition, which is likely to be moved to Russia.
