Three years ago, terrorists attacked the offices of French humor magazine Charlie Hebdo. The world had a message for those terrorists: “We are not afraid. Terror will never win!”

On January 7, we commemorated the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, a brutal Islamic attack in 2015 during which gunmen killed reporters and illustrators at the satirical weekly over the magazine’s satirical coverage of Islam and its central figure Mohammad.

Despite the terrorists’ attempt to silence free speech, Paris and the world came together in the days after the attack to show solidarity and a united front against threats to democracy.

May the memory of the victims forever be for a blessing.
