Speaking to reporters after visiting the Western Wall, Pence described the experience as “inspiring.”
US Vice President Mike Pence ended his two-day visit to Israel Tuesday with a private visit to the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem, where he and his wife Karen prayed at the holy site. The site was closed to visitors.
Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch and other officials gave the Pences an explanation of the holy site and its meaning to the Jewish people.
Pence, visibly moved, placed a note in the ancient stones and stood in silent prayer. Upon leaving, he received a stone menorah as a gift.
