Enemies of the Jewish state have been spreading the lie that Israel is an apartheid state, making this false allegation on campuses, in media, at demonstrations and elsewhere.
The word “apartheid” is Afrikaans for “separation” and refers to the despicable and cruel system of racial segregation strictly enforced in South Africa from 1948 until 1994. The word itself triggers disgust, which is why it is used regularly by Israel’s foes to describe the Jewish state.
