The Israeli navy added a fifth Dolphin-class submarine to its fleet, strengthening Israel’s reconnaissance and second-strike capabilities.

It’s the second new-generation AIP (air independent propulsion) platform in Israel’s arsenal. This means the submarine will be able to remain submerged for longer periods of time than conventional submarines.

Israel has one of the most powerful navies in the Middle East and has reportedly succeeded in striking its enemies from the depths of the sea.
