Pharrell Williams

When anti-Israel activists attacked Pharrell Williams on his Facebook page after he announced he would perform in Israel later this year, United with Israel sprung into action and sent thousands of supporters to give Williams encouragement and thanks for standing up to the anti-Israel boycott movement.

Pharrell Williams is undoubtedly one of the most popular singers in today’s music industry. On June 11 it was reported in the press that talks with Williams for an early September performance in Israel were underway. Almost immediately, anti-Israel postings began appearing on his website based on defamatory and baseless claims typical of the infamous BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) Movement.

While other entertainers scheduled to perform in Israel have been similarly harassed, even personally threatened, only a few ultimately backed out of their commitments.

United with Israel’s Call to Action that was posted on June 23rd has to date resulted directly in over 3000 positive responses to our website as well as hundreds of supportive postings on Pharrell Williams’ Facebook page.

David Zeit, United with Israel’s executive director, spoke with Williams’ publicist who was very grateful for what UWI did on his behalf. It is really making a difference, and will encourage other performers to follow suit.

A few examples of your amazing support:

Pharrell Williams! I am so excited that you are performing in Israel!!! WE LOVE YOU!”

Music has the power to bring people together. Thank you for doing shows in Israel.”

It takes a courageous artist like Pharrell Williams to drown out all the hateful noise.”

We look forward to seeing Pharrell Williams in Israel in September.
