A Palestinian terrorist was shot and critically wounded after stabbing four policemen at a Jerusalem police station.

Four policemen were wounded late Wednesday night after a Palestinian terrorist infiltrated a police station and attacked them.

An initial inquiry indicates that the knife-wielding terrorist scaled the fence of the Armon Hanatziv station and attacked the officers inside the station.

A total of four officers were wounded to various degrees, including one who was stabbed in the head, while the terrorist was shot and seriously wounded.

All injured officers, several of them young Border Policemen, were evacuated to Shaare Zedek Hospital in the capital and were later released from the hospital after receiving medical treatment, while a policeman who sustained a gunshot wounded to his arm during the scuffle and the critically wounded terrorist remained hospitalized Thursday morning.

The Armon Hanatziv neighborhood is situated adjacent to Palestinian neighborhoods, and specifically the hostile neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber, and has been the site of several terror attacks, some of them lethal.

One of the most severe and deadly attacks in the area occurred in October 2016 when two Palestinian terrorists boarded a bus and shot and stabbed passengers, murdering Alon Govberg, Haim Haviv and Richard Lakin, the latter of whom was also an American citizen, before being shot dead by security forces. Another 17 Israelis were wounded in the attack.

The latest Palestinian terror attacked occurred amid a spate of Palestinian attacks in recent weeks, the most severe of which was carried out on October 7, when a terrorist shot and killed two Israelis at the Barkan Industrial Park in Samaria.

In total, Judea and Samaria has seen a decrease in attacks in 2018, with 25 incidents compared with 54 in 2017 and 108 in 2016, the Shin Bet said.
