Though Palestinian leaders publicly call for Israel’s destruction and work against it, they are privately deeply appreciative of its existence and the expert medical treatment it is providing for their relatives.

The brother of Palestinian Authority (PA) head Mahmoud Abbas was admitted to an Israeli hospital in the Tel Aviv area on Monday, Israeli media reported.

Abu Louai, who lives in Qatar and was recently diagnosed with cancer, was secretly hospitalized at Assuta Medical Center, reportedly in serious condition.

This is not the first time he has been at Assuta to treat his cancer, the reports indicate.

Palestinian leaders have a history of hospitalizing their relatives in top Israeli medical facilities. They know that their relatives will receive top-of-the-line treatment, regardless of their background.

Abbas’ wife and brother-in-law were previously treated at Assuta.

Aminas Abbas, wife of Abbas, underwent knee transplant surgery in the summer of 2014. Six months ago, Abbas’ brother-in-law, Amina’s brother, was hospitalized at Assuta for life-saving heart surgery.

Hamas leaders have also sent their kin to be treated by Israeli doctors in Israeli facilities.

Halamia Shcata, 60, the sister of senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk, was treated in an Israeli hospital in November 2014.

The daughter of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh received treatment in Israel in October 2014 after suffering complications from a routine procedure in Gaza. She was saved by Israeli doctors.

Haniyeh’s granddaughter was treated at an Israeli hospital in November 2013, while his mother-in-law received care at a Jerusalem hospital in June.
