Israel has extended aid to several countries around the world in an effort to assist the global battle against the spread of COVID-19.

Israeli Ambassador to Guatemala Matanya Cohen donated this week on behalf of the Foreign Ministry’s MASHAV agency and the people of Israel 120 gallons of alcohol gel to Guatemala authorities as part of local actions to contain COVID-19.

In India, the Consulate General in Mumbai distributed hundreds of free sanitizers in the city.

“Social Distance brings India and Israel even closer! We gonna overcome it together!” the Consulate tweeted.

In Ethiopia, the NALA Foundation, supported by the MASHAV agency and Israeli embassy has installed handwashing stations with soap as a preemptive step to take part in Ethiopia’s efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The tap is operated by a pedal, to minimize the potential spread of infections.

The Ambassador of Israel in Rwanda donated on behalf of MASHAV and the people of Israel essential supplies to the people of Rwanda, including beans, rice and corn flour were delivered for distribution in Kicukiro District, Kigali.

Israel also extended aid to Ghana and Uzbekistan.

“Israel is proud to assist our friends in the global fight against coronavirus,” Yuval Rotem, Director General of Israel’s Foreign Ministry, tweeted.

MASHAV is Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected 210 countries around the world.

At least 2,085,000 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed worldwide, including at least 135,000 deaths. Some 515,000 have recovered.
