On April 25, 2015, a devastating earthquake struck Nepal, killing more than 6000 people and injuring more than 10,000. The State of Israel immediately sent aid and rescue teams to offer assistance.

A 260-member Israeli delegation of medical personnel and Search and Rescue specialists set out to for Nepal in order to provide emergency services. An advanced multi-department field hospital was quickly established in Kathmandu to provide medical care for disaster casualties.
