In the aftermath of the death of a senior Hamas commander and an Israeli intelligence officer during intense clashes in the Gaza Strip Sunday night, incoming rocket sirens have been sounding throughout the south as hundreds of rockets have been aimed at Israeli communities.

“The Israel Defense Forces reinforced its troops in the Southern Command and is prepared to use large amounts of force if necessary,” the army said in a statement Monday.

“Our fighter jets have starting striking terror targets throughout the #Gaza Strip,” the IDF tweeted.

According to EMT Nehorai Darshan, head of United Hatzalah in Sderot, “United Hatzalah volunteers have already treated 10 people who suffered light injuries due to being hit by shrapnel from the rockets landing in and around Sderot and the Sha’ar Hanegev region. One young girl was also treated by our volunteers after her finger was partially cut off by a door in a secure room when it was slammed shut.

“Our volunteers are running from emergency to emergency due to the high volume of calls from people suffering injuries or emotional shock as a result of the rocket fire and the resulting air raid sirens,” she said.
