North Carolina Representatives Stephen M. Ross, John Szoka and Jon Hardister sponsored a bipartisan resolution to fight BDS boycotts on Israel. Thank them for their efforts!
North Carolina became the latest US state to pass a measure opposing the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement, becoming the 22nd US state to pass such legislation.
The bill requires North Carolina state institutions to cease all contracts with companies that boycott Israeli companies or products made in Israel.
The bill passed the North Carolina House of Representatives with overwhelming support.
“The state of North Carolina has long been a trading partner with Israel and thanks to this legislation, that connection will not be hindered. North Carolina businesses conduct $140 million per year in exports and commerce with Israel,” North Carolina’s Jewish Federations said.
This development marks the latest victory in the state-level fight against Israel boycotts, and North Carolina joins the wave of states, including Montana, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Michigan, Texas, Nevada and Kansas, that have all passed bills fighting BDS.
Similarly, the governors of all 50 US states recently signed a declaration condemning the BDS movement as antithetical to American values.
While BDS claims its Israel boycotts represent nonviolent struggle against the so-called “occupation,” we know the truth – BDS is a modern form of anti-Semitism and its true objective is to destroy the State of Israel.
Representatives Stephen M. Ross, John Szoka and Jon Hardister were the main sponsors of the bill and were joined by another 34 representatives. We must thank them for standing with Israel!
