Why did God give Moses a view of the Land of Israel when he was forbidden to enter? Was it for his benefit?

Moses was punished and not allowed entry into the Land of Israel.

God tells Moses, before his death, to go to the top of Mount Nebo, located in present-day Jordan, where he could have a glimpse of the Holy Land.

Was God teasing Moses?

Why did He want to show Moses the land even though he would not have the privilege of entering – after leading the Jewish people through the desert for 40 years?
