In 1967, a furious firefight between Israeli forces and the Jordanian Army raged in the streets of Jerusalem’s Old City, with the ultimate prize awaiting the victors.

In 1967, Israeli troops poured through the now open gates to the Old City driving back the enemy, street by street.

Then, the fateful words came across the radio: “The Temple Mount is in our Hands!”

In the end, the Jordanians were routed and retreated from the city. A nation which had been on the edge of its seat, waiting for any news from the capital discovered that Jerusalem was reunited!

Happy Jerusalem Day!

“The Temple Mount is in our Hands”

A historic miracle the extent of which must never be forgotten: In June 1967, Israel’s soldiers overcame Arab troops and reached the Western Wall — the ancient remnant of the Jewish temple. At that moment, the Old City of Jerusalem, lost to the Jewish people for 2,000 YEARS, was finally in Israel’s hands.Video: Israel Defense Forces
