For 2000 years, the Jewish people never abandoned their faith that they would one day return to their holiest city, Jerusalem.

This week, Jews around the world are celebrating Yom Yerushalayim, marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem during the 1967 Six Day War.

On this milestone occasion, Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, former Chief Rabbi of the UK, discusses the history of Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people.

The moving video (below) recounts the tense weeks ahead of the Six Day War, followed by a miraculous victory and the fulfilment of the prophecy of rebuilding and restoration.
