A Chanukah miracle took place in Bahrain as King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa welcomed representatives of various religions including Rabbi Mosh Lewin, director of the Conference of European Rabbis.
Al Khalifa provided Rabbi Lewin with an especially warm, inviting welcome.
Lewin then lit the Chanukah candles at Manama’s synagogue for the second night of the holiday.
Many Muslim neighbors came to witness the special ceremony, as did representatives of the royal house and parliament.
Talk about bringing a little bit of light in order to drive out a lot of darkness! The last time Chanukah candles were lit in Bahrain was in 1948!
