This hauntingly beautiful rendition of a Yom Kippur prayer will put you in the right mood for the holiest day on the Jewish calendar.

Yosef Peysin and Mordy Kurtz of the Rogers Park Band perform a beautiful rendition of the heartfelt Yom Kippur prayer, in which the Jewish people plead with the Almighty for mercy.

As the musicians explain on their website, “Chassidic niggunim (melodies) are the deepest that music can take us.”

In this video, they chant, “As metal in the hands of the craftsman, so too we are in Your hands,” while playing the profoundly moving nigun.

Watch the video and be inspired during the “Ten Days of Repentance,” beginning with Rosh Hashana and ending with Yom Kippur.
